 Bajaj to launch RE 60 in October 2014

June 20, 2014: Leading two wheeler manufacturing company Bajaj Auto has confirmed that it will roll out its first quadricyle Bajaj RE 60 from its production plant located in Aurangabad in October 2014. The auto maker had showcased the quadricyle during the Indian Auto Expo 2014 and since then it was speculated to be soon launched in Indian car market. Now after receiving consent from Ministry of Road and Transport, Government of India, allowing the transport of quadricyle on Indian roads from October this year company has decided to launch the vehicle in Indian car market.

While supplying the ULC cars to Renault, Bajaj had also announced to launch its own ULC platform based commercial vehicles in the future but, Renault didn’t seem pleased with this announcement.

The BajajRE60 will compete with the India’s cheapest and smallest car, Tata Nano. The fuel efficiency of this Bajaj car is pretty impressive. It claims to offer a mileage of 30-35 kmpl mileage. This Bajaj small car will be priced around Rs.1.30 lakh.

The Bajaj RE60 was unveiled on 3rd January by Bajaj Auto. As per some information received from company sources the vehicle is powered by a 200cc, one-cylinder DTSi petrol engine that produces maximum output of around 20 bhp. Initially, the vehicle comes with a petrol engine, but a CNG variant is also expected to hit the Bajaj small car lineup soon.  The ultra-frugal petrol engine is able to achieve a mileage of 30-35 kmpl.
