New BMW 6 Series launched at Rs. 86.40 lakh

08 November, 2012: The happier times will no more be a part of premium vehicles such as Audi A7 Sportback and Mercedes Benz CLS Class in India as New BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is launched in India at a hefty price of Rs. 86.40 lakh by premium German automaker BMW. The BMW 640d Gran Coupe comes in sole trim i.e. a mammoth 3.0L twin-turbocharged diesel engine that emits a raw power of 317 PS at 4400 rpm teamed up with staggering torque of 630 Nm at 1500-2000 rpm. 

Coupled with technically advanced 8-speed Automatic Transmission, this exquisite beast BMW 6-series coupe sprints from 0-100 kph in mere 5.4 seconds. Some of the arresting features are daytime running corona LED rings in head lights, night vision with pedestrian recognition, cruise control, power adjustable seats with memory function, AC with dual-zone climate control, paddle shifts and a brilliant high-end Bang & Olufsen surround sound music system.

The BMW 6 Series has been one of the most preferred luxury sedans in its segment since its launch. Now with the entry of one more model type - BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe – the company has taken a step forward in strengthening its position in the Indian market. Both these models are powered by a 4.4L petrol engine which delivers a peak power of 413 PS @ 5,500-6,400 along with a peak torque of 600 Nm @ 1,750-4,500. While the Convertible is available in only 4.4L petrol version, the Gran Coupe is available in only 3.3L diesel version. On the other hand, the coupe model is available in both petrol and diesel version.

Now coming to the feature line-up of this German beauty, the super luxury BMW 6 Series model is equipped with a range of advanced performance boosting features in combination with new age safety & security features. BMW 6 Series mileage and fuel efficiency

The petrol version of the 6 Series Coupe, which is powered by a 4.4L engine, delivers a fuel economy of 9.52 km per liter (combined city and highway). On the other hand the fuel economy of the diesel version of this coupe version, which comes loaded with a 3.0L Powertrain, stands at 18.50 km per liter, (as claimed by the company).

On the other hand, the convertible version, delivers a combined fuel economy of 9.35 km per liter. The recently launched BMW 6 Series mileage (in Gran Coupe diesel version) is claimed to be around 14 km per liter in urban areas and combined fuel economy of 17.5 km per liter. Both petrol and diesel versions of the BMW 6 series model are among the fastest in their segment. While the BMW 6 Series 640d Coupe model takes 5.5 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km per hour from a stand still position, the 650i Coupe petrol version is much faster and takes just 4.9 seconds to reach 100 km per hour. The 4.4L convertible version takes just 5 seconds to reach a speed mark of 100 km per hour. In addition to this, the recently launched BMW 6 Series 640d Gran Coupe that is powered by a 3.0L diesel engine is on a slower side and takes 5.4 seconds to cross the speed mark of 100 km per hour.

BMW Exterior and features
