BMW i8 launched in Indian car market

 
February 18, 2015:  German car maker has launched the first super hybrid first car BMW i8 in Indian car market with starting price of 2.39 Crore (all India ex-showroom price). The car is empowered with two engine including 1.5 litre three cylinder turbocharged petrol engine at the rear wheels followed by 5kWh lithium battery. The sports car touches the mark from standstill to 100 kmph within the span of 4.4 seconds and delivers the fuel efficient performance of 39.9 kmpl (under European driving conditions).

February 10, 2015: It is reported that German luxurious car maker BMW is going to launch its hybrid sports car BMW i8 in Indian car market on February 18, 2015. Speculated to be offered with price tag of Rs. 2 Crore, the hybrid car under the beneath would be offered with three cylinder 1.5 litre petrol engine. The engine would be mated with six speed automatic transmission system.

The upcoming luxurious hybrid sport car is reported to be one of the most powerful sports car that will bestow 1.5 litre petrol engine and an electronic motor having the power generation efficiency of 7.1 kWH. The 1.5 litre petrol engine with twin turbo charging motor has displacement capacity of 1500 cc. The 3 cylinders 12 valve engine churns the power of 231 bhp at 5800 rpm and torque of 320 Nm at 3700 rpm. Both petrol mill and electronic motor together generate the power of 362 bhp and torque of 570 Nm. The engine would be mated with six speed automatic transmission system.
 
Empowered with lithium battery the electronic motor take around two hours to get completely charged and delivers an average from 30-35 kmpl. When this motor is combined with 3 cylinder petrol engine both of them deliver the combined average of 40 kmpl.

The sports car crosses the mark of 100 kmph in the span of 4.4 seconds, while the electronic motor accelerates the speed from standstill to 100 kmph in period of 4.5 seconds. The combination of both motors kisses the top speed mark of 250 kmph.

It is speculated that the German car maker will empower this luxurious sports car with various interesting features for instance BMW head up display to provide information about on road condition, park distance control, high defined touch screen music system that supports connectivity with USB/AUX-in, Bluetooth and supported by quality speakers. Although the above mentioned accessory items are just speculations and the real items would be disclosed only after the final launch on February 18, 2015.
