August 5, 2024: According to recent reports, despite being the highly impressive SUV in the Indian car market, Mahindra Thar has witnessed a significant decline in its bookings. It is reported the bookings have dipped from 59,000 in May 2024 to 42,000 in June 2024. It is believed that this is mainly due to the five-door Thar slated for launch on August 15, 2024.

April 6, 2023: Mahindra & Mahindra is currently offering a cash discount of up to Rs 40,000 on both petrol and diesel variants of the Thar 4X4 during April 2023. The Thar 4X4 comes in two trims and three powertrain options, equipped with an electronic brake locking differential that provides improved grip on low-traction roads. The company is reportedly planning to introduce a new entry-level 4X4 variant positioned below the AX (O) trim, powered by either a 2.0L petrol or a 2.2L diesel engine. Furthermore, Mahindra & Mahindra is testing a 5-door version of the Thar, set to debut by the end of 2023 or early 2024, with a 300mm longer wheelbase and new body panels.

 

January 9, 2023: The domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the small RWD version of Thar SUV in the Indian car market. Under the hood, it is offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant comes equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo engine, while the diesel variant is available with a 1.5-litre engine. The former comes with an automatic transmission system, whereas the latter comes with a six-speed manual gear transmission system. The diesel variant is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh and the petrol variant is offered at Rs 13.49 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices.

 

 

 

April 13, 2021: According to recent reports the Mahindra Thar SUV from the domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has received more than 50,000 bookings within six-months after its launch back in October 2020. The new Thar has received an encouraging response from the Indian buyers because of its rugged looks, powerfuel engine, and off-road efficiencies. It is offered with two engine options of a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine.

 

April 1, 2021: The homegrown SUV Thar by Mahindra & Mahindra has been awarded as the car of the year 2021. The SUV although received the tough competition from the Kia Sonet, but finally it grabbed the crown. Running in its second generation the Thar is blessed with a plethora of off-roader features that makes it comfortable for driving on different terrains without any difficulty. 

 

January 4, 2021: It is reported that Mahindra Thar SUV launched by the domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra is recording the waiting period of ten months. The second generation of Thar was launched last year on October 2, 2020. Under the hood, it is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. According to the company sources it has received more than 6,500 bookings during the month of December 2020.

 

 

November 26, 2020: According to reports the Mahindra Thar SVU by the domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra has received four star ratings in the recently conducted Global NCAP test. The SUV is reported to offer complete protection to adult and child occupants. It was only few points away from receiving the five star rating due to failure in UN95 test conducted for the front impact.

 

November 2, 2020: Domestic carmaker Mahindra & Mahindra has started the deliveries of SUV Thar launched on October 2, 2020. With this, the company also delivered the first unit of Thar #1auction to its winner Mr Aakash Minda, who placed the bid of Rs. 1.11 crore for the first unit of Thar.

 

October 20, 2020: The upcoming 4x4 SUV Thar from the domestic car maker Mahindra & Mahindra has received more than 15,000 bookings after its launch on October 2, 2020. According to the company sources among 15,000 bookings received so far, 57% of the customers are the first time buyers. The SUV will go for sale from November 1, 2020. It is offered, in both the petrol and diesel variants empowered with a 2.0-litre ‘mStallion’ petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine.

 

April 17, 2019: The images of generation next Mahindra Thar were captured recently by the spies while it was undergoing the test drive. The images revealed by the spies are of the interior which are completely uncovered thus giving an idea about the features that would be offered inside the cabin of Mahindra Thar 2020. In its new avatar the Thar will receive multi-functional steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system, the new black colored dashboard, centralized glossy black colored air conditioner vents and many more.

 

March 2, 2017: According to recent industry reports domestic car maker Mahindra and Mahindra is going to bring the generation next Thar soon in Indian and International car market. New regarding this was confirmed  by the Managing Director of group Mr. Pawan Goenka, saying that the company is working on next generation Thar. Apart from contemporary changes, the new Thar is reported to also sport 1.5 litre petrol engine for International market along with existing 2498cc, turbocharged CRDe diesel engine.

 

March 21, 2016: It is reported that domestic car maker Mahindra and Mahindra is going bring the refreshed version of Thar in Indian car market in 2018. The new avatar of Thar is reported to be energized with 1.5 litre mHawk diesel engine which will replace the existing 2.5 litre CRDe diesel engine. The proposed engine is reported to generate power of 100 bhp and is reported to be developed strictly according to emission norms. 

 

July 23, 2015: Domestic car maker M&M has launched the refreshed Thar in Indian car market with starting price of Rs. 8.03 lakh (ex-showroom price, Nashik). Enriched with various contemporary features the new Thar is enriched with 2.5 litre CRDe engine with a high ground clearance of 200mm. With spacious cabin to accommodate six passengers easily the new Thar is blessed with power steering as standard feature.

 

March 7, 2015: It is reported that domestic car maker M&M is going to bring the facelift version of Thar soon in Indian car market with various comprehensive changes inside the cabin followed  by subtle changes on the exteriors. Under the hood company will continue with same engine configurations of 2.5 litre DI and 2.5 litre CRDe diesel engines.
