Mahindra Xylo Engine, Power and Performance

The company has offered three diesel engines namely mHawk, mEagle and mDI CRDe out of which two are retuned, while one that is mHawk is an all-new entrant in the Xylo bonnet.  The three diesel engines are categorized as mHawk- the one with greatest power, mEagle- focused on the peppy drive while the mDI CRDe- targeted to deliver maximum fuel economy.

The new 2.2 litre, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine has been providing renowned services to Mahindra’s flagship vehicle Mahindra Scorpio. This powerhouse is offered only in the top end Mahindra Xylo E9 variants of the vehicle. This makes the presence of New Xylo more potent in the utility segment as it delivers a maximum power of a whopping 120 bhp at 4000 rpm along with meatier torque of 280 Nm at 2400-2800. With this power the New Mahindra MUV can challenge any vehicle in its segment, and why only to the MUVs, but to the existing and upcoming SUVs as well.   

Till now, we have a lot talked about power, power and power, so let’s go to the third diesel that is a bit less on power a much more on the fuel economical compared to the previously discussed two engines, mHawk and mEagle. The 2.5L mDI CRDe diesel run motor comes with a displacement of 2489cc. This engine is found under the hood of D2 and D4, the base variants of 2012 Mahindra Xylo, which are the first choice of tour operators and cabbies in the country. This fuel efficient diesel engine is developed keeping in mind the needs and requirements of the commercial usage in India. It generates 95 bhp of maximum power at 3600 rpm, whereas the peak torque is also matchless with 220 Nm at 1400-2600 rpm.

Mahindra has worked a lot on the outer appearance of the New Xylo.  As the company has done the vehicle with all that it was needed to look one-of-its-kind.
