Maruti Suzuki Readying To Launch Facelift Swift By End Of This Year

 
October 26, 2020: It is rumoured that country’s leading car making company Maruti Suzuki is working on bringing the facelift version of its best selling premium hatchback Swift in India by the end of this year. The company has recently launched the facelift Swift in the UK car market and in the Japanese car market earlier this year. The facelift Swift is reported to undergo nominal changes, except the introduction of a new BS6 compliant 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine boosting the power of 91 PS and the torque of 118Nm. It will be mated with an option of manual gear transmission system and an automatic transmission system. The major changes would be offered on the external front.

September 24, 2018: Maruti Suzuki India Limited, country’s leading Indo-Japanese car maker have launched the limited edition of their best selling hatchback Swift in the Indian car market with the price tag of Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom price, New Delhi). The Limited Edition has been introduced in the base trims of LXi and VDi variants and receives bunch of new features that are supposed to enhance the list of features offered in these trims. Mechanically, it continues with the existing petrol and diesel engine configurations that were offered in its facelift version, launched earlier this year.

January 23, 2018: Indo-Japanese car makers Maruti Suzuki India Limited are all set to launch the generation next Swift hatchback in the Indian car market during the Indian Auto Expo 2018. The Swift 2018 will be launched in both the petrol and diesel variants continuing with the same 1.2 litre and 1.3 litre engine configurations respectively along with 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol engine. It is reported that it will be launched in eight trims in both the variants namely LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+.

Maruti Suzuki Swift Deca Edition Launched

 
August 31, 2016: With an objective to enhance the dipping sales of its best selling hatchback Swift, country’s leading car maker MSIL has launched the special Deca Edition priced Rs. 5.94 lakh and Rs. 6.86 lakh for petrol and diesel variants, both prices are ex-showroom prices. Continuing the same engine configuration the Deca Edition receives cosmetic updates on exteriors and interiors of the hatchback. Moreover to differentiate the Deca edition from regular edition company has printed digit 10 on its side profile.

August 29, 2016: It is reported that country’s leading car maker MSIL is going to launch the special edition of its best selling hatchback Swift in Indian car market during the festive season. The special edition is reported to undergo cosmetic changes and continue the existing engine configurations. On the exteriors it will receive new dark colored alloy wheels, body graphics with number 10 sketched on doors at front portion followed by a sporty body kit on the exteriors of i20. Inside the cabin sports features like black leather upholstery with red stitching, touchscreen infotainment system and few contemporary changes.

July 18, 2016: With an objective to commemorate the release of movie of Kabali starring Rajnikanth, one of the MSILs dealers in Tamil Nadu has introduced Kabali Edition in hatchback Swift. The edition has been named as Kabali Edition is available only in Tamil Nadu. The exterior of edition receive exclusive wrap of Rajnikanth taken from movie. Under the bonnet it continues with existing diesel engine of 1.3 litre DDiS turbodiesel engine.

Maruti Suzuki Introduces Limited edition DLX in Swift hatchback

 
July 13, 2016: Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched the limited edition of its best selling compact hatchback Swift in Indian car market, named as DLX. The limited edition has been launched in base variant of both petrol and diesel variants with price tag of Rs. 4.84 lakh and Rs. 5.95 lakh respectively. Continuing the same engine configurations the major features offered in limited edition are Sony FM music system that supports connectivity with Bluetooth, USB and is supported by four door speakers, black colored B-pillar, fog lamps and power windows for both front and rear seat passengers.

Maruti Suzuki Swift 2017 Sketches appear in cyber world

 
June 30, 2016: Sketch of generation next Maruti Suzuki Swift has appeared in online world once again. The new Swift is under production in Europe and is expected to make its debut in Japan next year during the month of August. According to sketches it can be speculated that the exteriors of new Swift will continue the existing design language and the major changes would be introduced under skin. The new Swift is reported to be developed on Baleno’s platform and is expected to be lighter than its existing avatar.

March 18, 2016: Pictures of generation next Maruti Suzuki Swift have been revealed by Indo-Japanese car maker recently among the audiences during its dealers conference. The new Swift 2017 is expected to be launched in Indian car market sometimes during next year after is global launch by the end of this year. Developed on same platform as used for developing Baleno hatchback the new Swift will undergo various cosmetic changes on both exteriors and interiors along with introduction of 1.0 litre turbo-charged petrol booster jet engine followed by existing engine configuration in petrol and diesel variants with improved power tunes.

The facelift Maruti Suzuki Swift which has been launched on October 29, 2014 has undergone some minor but interesting cosmetic changes on the exteriors which are helpful in making the hatchback more aggressive and dynamic. The front fascia now receives new radiator grille followed by honeycomb with Suzuki’s logo mounted on it. The headlight panel has been same but now embellishes halogen lamps and turn indicators. The front bumper has been given sportier look, with this the fog lamp cluster now sports silver covering around it. Moving towards the rear portion it almost remains the same with minute changes including parking sensors. The rear spoiler now carries third brake light and an antenna. It would be interested to know that the side profile has been given new look with dynamic alloy wheels. The base and mid priced trims now equip steel rims along with wheel cap. The wing mirrors now sport turn blinkers.

The interiors of facelift Maruti Suzuki Swift receives new taste which new color treatment which is further enhanced with application of velvet clothing. The seats have now been revamped in ratio of 60:40 making them more comfortable and relaxing. There is no change in dashboard and has been same, but this time it is blessed with silver garnish which adds elegance to its look. Maruti Swift Engine, Power and Performance

 

The new Maruti Swift is offered with the similar petrol and diesel units, however, with a significant improvement in terms of both power and performance. The petrol engine of the car is 1.2L K – Series petrol engine which delivers an improved power output of 87 PS @ 6000 rpm in combination with a torque delivery of 114 Nm @ 400 rpm. The highly efficient 1197 cc engine is blessed with the VVT (Variable Valve Timing) technology, which makes it even more responsive and less fuel consuming.


The diesel version on the other hand is equipped with the same 1.3L DDiS diesel engine which delivers a peak power of 75 PS along with top torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 rpm. The CRDI (Common Rail Direct Injection) technology makes the Swift diesel even more efficient. Both petrol and diesel engines of the new Swift come joined with a five speed manual transmission and are compatible with the new BS-IV emission norms.

The pick-up and acceleration characteristics of both petrol and diesel powertrains have been improved in the new generaton Swift model. 1.2L K – Series petrol engine which delivers an improved power output of 87 PS @ 6000 rpm, takes just 12.2 seconds to cross the speed barrier of 100 km per hour with a top speed mark of 160 km per hour.


On the other hand the Maruti Swift diesel variant, which delivers a peak power of 75 PS along with top torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 rpm, takes slightly higher time at 14.2 seconds to reach a top speed of 100 km per hour from a stand still position. The top speed mark of this variant is 154 km per hour.


With improved pick-up and acceleration of Maruti Swift, the new Swift is now easier to drive in bumper to bumper city traffic.


Maruti Swift Mileage and Fuel Efficiency


As mentioned in the previous section, the company engineers have worked hard to provide an improved Powertrain with the new swift both in terms of performance and efficiency. However, it is the Maruti Swift mileage in particular which appears to have improved significantly as compared to the previous generation version. While the 1.2L petrol engine of the car delivers an improved fuel economy of 18.6 km per liter, the diesel version goes one step ahead by delivering 6 percent higher fuel efficiency at 22.9 km per liter.


However, when it comes to city areas, the mileage dips considerably at 14.5 km per liter petrol version and at 19.0 km per liter in the diesel version. A series of factors contribute in making the new Maruti Swift much more efficient in terms of fuel consumption including improved aerodynamic efficiency, reduced body weight and use of advanced technologies.

Maruti Swift, one of the most loved cars in the Indian market, has gradually become a synonym for premium hatchback in the Indian market.Blessed with a superb amalgamation of performance and efficiency, the new Maruti Swift was launched in August 2011, which met with even greater response among the Indian car buyers. It has been continuously enjoying a waiting period of 6 to 9 months since its launch in year 2005.


The Maruti engineers have put-in some real hard work in improving the new Swift on every front be it performance & handling or be it comfort & convenience. The first visible change is in the appearance of the car as it is now more aggressive and appealing in comparison to its predecessor. It has got new spherical for lamps in combination with road presence boosting bigger headlamps. A sporty rear spoiler has been offered along with cornering tail-lamps to improvise upon the rear look of the car, which was not liked much by the car enthusiasts in the previous generation of the car. Working upon the need of the hour, the car is now equipped with much in demand ORVM mounted turn indicators and newly designed 15 inch alloy wheels.

However, it is the interior, where company seems to have got everything right. The car now has more space inside in combination with a basket full of additional features and a more appreciated 'waterfall' dashboard design. The quality of interior materials such as plastic and fabric, which was not up to the mark in its predecessor, is now improved significantly.


On the technological front, the company has offered the new Maruti Swift with a series of advanced technological comfort & convenience, entertainment and safety features which were missing in the previous generation version of the car such as Air conditioner with automatic climate control, a multi information LCD screen, dual SRS airbags and ABS (Antilock Brake System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution).


Coming to the engine configuration, the new Swift is offered with the same 1.2L K series petrol and 1.3L DDiS diesel engine, however with improved fuel economy and performance characteristics. While the ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) certified mileage of petrol engine is improved to around 18.6 km per liter, the diesel version now offers a fuel economy of 22.9 km per liter. The other mentionable changes include length of 3850 mm as against 3696 mm of the previous version. Moreover the height of the car is lifted up by 155 mm as compared to the older swift.
