14 June, 2013: Finally, the much anticipated luxury compact crossover, Volvo V40 Cross Country has been launched today by Volvo Auto India. The Swedish carmaker has offered the luxury SUV to Indian customers at Rs 28.5 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi). It has been made available in only one variant which is called the V40 D3. It comes equipped with safety features of front passenger and driver airbags, curtain airbags, knee airbags, ABS, ESP, City Safety System, front seats with whiplash protection. The vehicle is loaded with a powerful 2L, 5 cylinder, D3 diesel diesel motor and returns a mileage of over 16 kmpl as per ARAI test. In Indian domestic auto market the new Volvo V40 Cross country is a major competitor of BMW X1 SUV.

Volvo V40 Cross price in India is placed at Rs 28.5 lakh (Ex-showroom Delhi) which is competitive enough. Other luxury brands in India like Mercedes, Audi and BMW have entry level cars in their respective portfolio that are available for sale at an affordable price.
