Unsafe and uneasy – this is how you will feel in Chevrolet Sail!
Pros : Design, style
Cons : Engine performance, lack of space and safety features
Can’t believe that this car is a Chevy concept! Well, I know that Chevrolet Sail take many direct cues from the design and interiors of their most awesome sedan, the Cruze. But is that all they need to launch a new car in India.
Initially only the 1.2L petrol variant of Chevrolet Sail will be rolled out. The hatchback will also be rolled in a more powerful 1.4L variant. I totally dislike the fact that both these variants are going to give very poor fuel economy. If the company claims that their mileage on highways is 18 and 14 kmpl on highways and city respectively, in reality that will come down to even lower mileage. Moreover, the engine of the base variant delivers maximum power of 82PS only. This is really not happening because other cars (of the same segment) from Chevy and other makers give much better mileage.
The safety features given in the lower variant are not up to the mark. The dual airbags are missing in this variant. The variant does not come with a fitted music system and is also poor in terms of overall interior features. The space is also going to be one of the problems that buyers of this hatchback will encounter. It is a small hatchback with less rear space, legroom, headroom and boot space.
The promise of a futuristic design does not guarantee safety and comfort. Chevrolet Sail fails to impress on some vital parameters and aims to attract buyers with some fake superficial features.
This poor idea won’t get Chevrolet Sail many buyers!
