Perfect combination of a hatchback and MUV
Pros : power, mileage, outer appearance
Cons : concerned abt the performance
Mahindra Quanto, the new trimmed down version of popular Multi Utility Vehicle Xylo, has been my dream car since I got the news that the company is planning to launch such a vehicle. I am pretty much excited with the prospect of a small MUV that has length of less than 4 meters and carries a powerful 1.5 L engine. Also, one can enjoy the utility of both hatchback and MUV simultaneously with this new concept of Mahindra. As there are no such vehicles in the Indian market so far, the new Mahindra Quanto will be a unique product, which will be creating a segment of its own.
As I have already mentioned, the new small form of Xylo will come powered by a 1.5L diesel engine (a smaller version of Scorpio’s proven 2.2L engine), one can be assured of power-packed performance along with a higher fuel economy in the range of up to 15 km per liter.
In addition to this, the price tag of Quanto will be a major plus point for this vehicle in the price conscious Indian market. The length of less than 4 meters will be enabling the firm in keeping the price tag of this vehicle competitively low, in the range of Rs 5.5 to Rs 6.5 lakh. This is because the excise duty levied on the 1.5L diesel engine run cars with length of less than four meters is just 11 percent, much lesser as compared to 22 percent on the Xylo MUV.
One more positive point about Quanto is its exterior designing, which will be inspired by the new design characteristics of recently rolled-out XUV 500 sports utility vehicle. Specially, the front portion of the quanto is expected to have a major impression of XUV 500.
