Tough times ahead for Mahindra Quanto
Pros : Style, Tough, efficient
Cons : Unsafe, lack of accessories
The base variant of Mahindra Quanto, the new B+ segment hatchback cum compact MPV is not an endearing choice. The car has a 1.5 L, 1498cc, 3 cylinder CRDi diesel engine which offers nothing much in terms of performance and power. However, Mahindra Quanto lags behind in vital safety features. There are no airbags, parking sensors, fog lamp, traction control, EBD and ABS. For rear seat passengers, the car does not have rear arm rest. To make more space, its seats cannot be folded.
The AC of the Mahindra Quanto has no climate control option and its steering also lacks controls for music system. The country’s largest SUV maker Mahindra & Mahindra has made quanto in a size of less than 4 meters. Except its price range that falls in between Rs 4.5 to 5.5 lakh, Quanto does not offer anything one can go wow for. It cannot take touch competition from Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Chevrolet Beat diesel like cars and it is a possibility that it will have little chance.
