Big SUV with styles flowing around
Pros : best looking, very spacious, lots of features, safety
Cons : braking, plastic, Mahindra service
Its been six months since I have brought this war horse looking SUV Mahindra XUV 500 to my home. Till now have clocked nearly 9000 kilometers. The vehicle is ideally suited for city purpose as well as highway journeys, on both road it performs to excellence. The appearance is muscular and imposing thing, a have noticed people or onlookers thinking that it’s a foreign product. The front headlights, rear tail lights and the pronounced wheel fenders just take your heart away.
The interiors are amazing and the spacious cabin has got loads of handy features along with great looking central console that has fantastic music system, but the dash board plastic quality is too cheap and it is very soft that if a person with heavy hand put it on the same it might get a bend in it.
After 3 months of driving I had come to an issue with the brakes that were making screeching sound on the highways at higher as well as lower speeds. I soon went to the service point and informed them about such issue. After 24 hrs of inspection it said that there was is some issue with the brake pedal, which has been repaired now. The same problem persisted after 3 days, again was at Mahindra service point, again they repaired it and this went on for a month in which I had nearly 8-9 visits. After which, I accepted the defeat and went for Tata Safari’s brake pedal, which had to be modified by my local mechanic, which solved the issue. In this pathetic span of 1 month service attitude of the company was never good.
