A gamble product from Maruti

Pros : You can compliment the service back up and low maintenance cost

Cons : Inefficient engine type and looks are ugly

Automobile manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has slated its first MPV launch in coming March or April, but I feel that like its previous unsuccessful roadsters like Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Kizashi and Maruti SX4, the upcoming Maruti Ertiga too won’t have any impact on the MUV buyers. Utility vehicles are meant to be powerful and have commendable torque churning caliber, but the company might compromise to introduce its MPV, Maruti Ertiga in two useless engines, i.e. 1.4 liter petrol and 1.3 liter diesel engines, while the other competitive cars like Mahindra Xylo, Toyota Innova come installed with 2.5 liter diesel or 2.0 liter petrol engines.  

Not only the upcoming Maruti Ertiga is going to be inefficient in terms of engine quality, but also it will lack superior exterior design. From the snaps, Maruti Ertiga doesn’t look much impressive like its rivals. It looks like a premium Maruti hatchback and not a muscle MPV. The low ground clearance might also hinder its performance. From my point of view, Maruti Ertiga should be slated in the range of Rs. 7 – 8 lakh and if the company slates it more than Rs. 10 lakh, I think MUV buyers would switch to other better options like Chevrolet Tavera Neo, Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova 2012. However, I don’t think that the maintenance cost of Maruti Ertiga would go high, as it is installed with a 1.4 K-series petrol and 1.3 liter DDiS diesel engine that is quite popular in hatchback, Maruti Swift.       

Another factor in favor of Maruti Ertiga can be its good service network. In India, you can find a Maruti service centre at a mere distance of every 40kms. It seems that Maruti Ertiga will have seating capacity for at least 6 passengers. For actual statistics we will have to wait till this car’s arrives in the market.
