Flop Show is what the Maruti Ertiga face like Grand Vitara
Pros : Maintenance cost and the service network can be the favorable factors
Cons : Resale value might be the major setback
So now, after struggling with cars like Maruti Kizashi, Maruti SX4, Maruti Grand Vitara and Maruti A-star, Maruti Suzuki is now back in the news with the launch of Maruti Ertiga MPV in the India. If I would have been in any mood to buy a MPV or a SUV, I would not have given any heed to a brand like Maruti.
Apart from cars like 800, Wagon R and Alto, Maruti has not been able to sell a good number of cars, especially the big segment cars. Except the earlier launched crossover, Gypsy, the car maker has been struggling consistently. And now when they are looking ahead to launch Maruti Ertiga, I am getting worried if this car is going to be another flop show from Maruti Suzuki.
I saw the images of Maruti Ertiga, I think that from the looks the car is so-so. The rear looks like the Ritz, while the front and side profile look like Honda Jazz. I must say that the company could have given Maruti Ertiga a bold look like the new Xylo or XUV 500. One positive factor can be its availability in 7 seater, but how better the interiors are been placed; only time would tell.
I read that the company is going to bring Ertiga in 1.4 liter petrol and 1.3 liter diesel engines. I have doubt if this car will have the caliber to challenge the 2.0 liter & 2.5 liter MUVs like the Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo. If the company doesn’t want this car to be as poor as the Grand Vitara, it will have to boost it with all the modern features, premium comforts and will also have to slate it somewhere under Rs. 6 lakh.
