Maruti Ertiga to get a counter from Chevrolet Enjoy

Pros : Great looks, powerful engine and economical

Cons : Brand value in large segment cars

Year 2012 is going to be wholly dedicated to the MPVs, yes I have browsed that there are three popular MUVs that are going to be launched in the Indian market, i.e. Maruti Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia. I think that Ertiga’s main battle with be with the new MUV Chevrolet Enjoy which is going to be launched by this festive season. I checked the snaps of both Ertiga and Enjoy and the design of both of these cars are somewhat similar. Moreover, both these cars are going to carry 1.3 liter diesel engine which would make the competition tougher.

As far as the upcoming Ertiga is concerned, you will find its enticing outfit much alike its hatchback siblings, Swift and Ritz. In addition, the Ertiga buyer will have the option to choose between the petrol and diesel variants. Compared to the Enjoy, Ertiga might have the benefit of lesser maintenance cost and wide spread dealership network. However, its major setback can be its brand value in large segment cars. No doubt, Maruti has a good repo in small segment cars, but the car maker will be totally new to the MUV segment. On the other hand, Chevrolet has been already a decent seller in the MUV segment with its available MPV, the Tavera Neo3 and its other large segment products have also shown better results than Maruti’s flop cars like the Grand Vitara, the SX4 and the Kizashi.

As a buyer, I would expect that the company would launch the Ertiga at a lower price tag, i.e. around Rs. 6 lakh. In addition, Maruti should also make it a fully loaded product with features like ABS, Music System, Power Windows, Power Steering etc.
