Tata Safari Storme; Only a revised version of Safari
Pros : appearance, New features
Cons : Poor mileage, High price, less variant choice, no increase in power and performance
Since the display at New Delhi Auto Expo 2012, many of customers are waiting for Tata Safari Storme in addition to have something new and amazing, but as per my opinion there is no chance to cheer. I have seen the recently leaked Tata Safari Storme brochure on the Internet which proves it a revise version of the already available Safari SUV. The Storme is a fully revised version of the Safari which is facelifted and has some new designed head lamps, tail lamps, front grille, roof rail etc.
It is to be said that the Safari Storme appears aggressive and premium than current model due to inclusion of some new features. Interior of the vehicle have also been made impressive but under the bonnet all are untouched. Tata Safari Storme mileage might become little more than current model but engine and its power/torque are just like earlier. It is reported that the new beast will have new engine but it is the BS-IV complaint 2179cc, 16 valve DOHC VTT DiCOR mill that does duty in running Safari. Power and torque of vehicle is same as earlier like 140 PS at 4000 RPM and 320 Nm at 1700-2200 rpm.
Many of customers were expecting an automatic transmission system version in the beast but there is only a 5 speed manual- Synchromesh with Overdrive, G-76 (Marck II) manual gearbox. After watching Tata Safari Storme pictures it was reported a decent competitor of Mahindra XUV500, Mahindra Scorpio and Renault Duster but I am not convinced. It is expected that in addition to threat these rigid competitors, Tata might play price game and then the SUV might pull customers, otherwise no chance for its popularity and high sale as the company hopes.
