Enjoying summer with my Chevrolet Spark
Pros : AC, interior quality, leg-room & height, road visibility
Cons : Rear seat width and inefficient acceleration
I bought Chevrolet Spark 1.0 LS around three years back from Chandigarh. Though the car is small but it gives pleasure like the premium hatchbacks. I along with my wife recently went for a trip to Nainital and I am pleased that not even a single time it troubled me on such a long tour. Although, it is the hot and humid season, but with Spark’s powerful AC turned on I never felt sweaty. Apart from AC, the best part about spark is its cabin space and height. From outside it might look compact and inefficient, but from inside it has got great features and ultimate comfort level. The driver seat position is perfect and avails good road visibility to the passengers.
During my tour I drove it a lot on highways and road stability in this car was perfect. Even when you drive and accelerate above 95 kmph, this car remains stable. The 1.0 liter engine of Spark gives mileage of around 17 kmpl on highways and in city its around 13 – 14 kmpl. However, acceleration is not as good as cars like A-star and Wagon R but it is manageable. Something that disappoints me in this car is the width. Yes, three adults cannot accommodate on the rear seat of Spark.
From maintenance point of view, I can bet that Chevrolet Spark is cheaper than Maruti Ritz and Hyundai i10. The company avails free warranty for 3 years or 1 lakh kilometers which is something appreciable. Features available in the LS variant of my Spark include; front power windows, power steering, outside temperature display, electronic trip meter etc. I think that to make the vehicle more competitive the company can introduce Chevrolet Spark with features like sun-roof and AT variant.
