Low mileage making my City high maintenance

Pros : superb looks, comfortable interiors and good handling

Cons : low fuel economy and high price

It’s been quite some time now that I have bought Honda City Corporate MT for me and my family. The car is certainly a great one, but only when you have a lots of money for the fuel. My Honda City has been provided with 1.5 litre of i-VTEC petrol engine that gives out peak power and torque of 118 PS and 146 Nm respectively. The engine has been coupled with five speed (plus one reverse) manual transmission that makes the car to deliver a mileage of about 12.5 to 16.8 km per litre.

I have been working on amplifying the mileage of my car since a long time. I try to maintain a certain speed. I try and use the brakes as minimum as possible, I make sure that I don’t zoom my Honda City with top speed. These things have certainly improved the mileage of my car. But besides these remedies, can you guys suggest me any other ways to pump up the fuel economy of my Honda City Corporate MT? With the soaring and ever rising petrol prices, it is becoming utterly difficult to maintain the car, specially the petrol engine ones. I am even thinking to sell this one off and buy a diesel car.

If engine is left aside, my Honda City Corporate MT is filled with features and luxury traits making it more premium and lavish. The car features power steering, power windows, air conditioning system with heater, front and rear cup holders, remote fuel lid and boot opener, airbags for the driver and front co-passenger and anti lock braking system.
