Hyundai i20 has disappointed me in terms of safety

Pros : affordable price, good looks and fine mileage.

Cons : lacks important safety features.

Hello!! This is Narayan Dixit from Jaipur, Rajasthan. I am a doctor by profession and continue my practice in Jaisalmer. I have a Maruti Alto and am very happy with its performance. But now as my son has grown up and was insisting to buy a vehicle since very long I thought of buying him a car.

Although my son wanted to buy a bike but I feel it is not safe and asked him to take my car as in this small town of jaisalmer I can manage without it. But like all the other kids of this generation he was very stubborn as he found the ALTO very ‘old-fashioned and outdated’ and wanted to buy a new car. I had no other option but to fulfill his demand. Frankly speaking I did not have a high budget so was looking for a car which was friendly to my pocket. I found the Hyundai i20 diesel magna (o) very interesting as it was affordable, good looking and offered good mileage and performance as I had heard from my friends. I purchased the car for him.

Soon after we bought the car my son and his friend met with an accident and sustained severe injuries including multiple fractures. It took months for them to recover. There I felt that I acted a little carelessly with my son’s safety. Had I shed some more money and had I been more careful about the safety features of the car I would have bought a car less with all the safety features and most importantly airbags. All thanks to God that the injuries were very severe but no loss of life had taken place. If God forbid anything like that would have happened then my whole world would have been destroyed. So I would say that in terms of safety the Hyundai i20 diesel magna (o) has really disappointed me and I would suggest that whenever you buy a car DON’T compromise on safety as it is most important.
