Mahindra XUV 500 – Improvement required

Pros : Attractive built, fabulous performance and excellent pick up

Cons : Noise beneath the rear seat of the car and problem in various functions

In December, last year, I bought the XUV 500 and in my point of view, it is the best crossover in its class. The drivability and performance of the 2.2 liter mHawk diesel engine are just incredible. Besides this, styling has been the USP of this car that is composed of its Cheetah inspired exteriors. The front has got honeycomb front grille, clear lens headlamps with LED daytime running lights & side indicators and the front fog lamps. The side profile as I told you looks damn seductive like a Cheetah. Like the side and the front, the rear view is also the delighting one.

Now coming to the setbacks of my XUV 500; the rear seat of this car has got bit of noise and even the workshop faculty is stunned with such a major issue. In addition, the outside temperature display, tyre pressure monitor and fuel consumption are showing incorrect figures. After building fabulous cars like the Bolero, the Scorpio and the Verito, one would not expect that a car maker like Mahindra would do such mistakes in its flagship product.

In addition, the company could come up with the introduction of sun-roof feature in this car and also an automatic transmission variant could be launched. I am sure that with sun-roof and AT transmission added, the Mahindra XUV 500 would leave behind popular crossovers like Tata Safar, Toyota Fortuner, BMW X1 and Honda CR-V.

At last, I would like to sum up saying that no doubt, in terms of drivability, performance and design the XUV500 is the master, but in terms of features, still it needs a lot of improvement.
