The Really Cheap Hatchback
Pros : Price, Maruti Suzuki's Trust
Cons : Less space,Interiors and Engine
Maruti Alto has been in the Indian market for over 10 years. It is one of the highest selling cars of the country. This small and economical hatchback has set milestones for the automobile market.
Exterior: Maruti Alto is a simple and ordinary looking small hatchback. It is available in many colours, though the bumpers are only in black. The finishing on the body of Alto is also average. It has no alloy wheels.
Interior: The seats of the car come with no covers. They are not suitable for long drives, as they are quite hard and uncomfortable. It is a small car, so there is not enough space available. Tall people find it really difficult to fit in. Rear legroom space is really very less. It doesn't come with company installed audio player.
Engine and Performance: 0.8L, 47bhp FC engine provides power of 47 PS @ 6200 rpm and torque of 62 Nm @ 3000 rpm. It is low powered engine which isn't smooth. Though, it is quite quiet. When the AC is turned on, the car becomes worse at pick up. The overall average it delivers is 16.5km/h.
Safety: Maruti Alto is nill on safety features. It has no Airbags, no ABS, and no Central Locking. However, due to the really low price of the car, it has features enough to attract buyers.
Verdict: Maruti Alto is a really good car for first timers, and middle-class families. Maruti Suzuki's trust has kept this car going for over a decade, and it should continue to do so in the future.
