Good car with no diesel choice
Pros : pickup, maintenance, drivability
Cons : mileage, space
Friends, my name is Anil and I currently own Maruti Alto standard base model from last 7-8 years. The car is truly a no problem car as since I had purchased I had to spend bear minimum expenses in the name of maintenance. Since it is a base model there is no power steering, and I am not eager to have one because I believe there is no need to have a power steering in such a small car, which is already very easy to drive and maneuver.
The car has got the best 796cc engine that is reliable one and drives without any hesitation and provides with an instant acceleration. The fuel efficiency that I get from it a bit low I guess in comparison to my friends same model, it gives me nearly 15kmpl and on the highways is reaches up to 20kmpl. Up till now the meter reads 50,000kms which is a sign of satisfaction.
The times have changed and inflation in every aspect has made man conscious about his every step. There were time when petrol cost was just Rs 30/Litre and at Rs 300 petrol I use to stretch a month in city, although has to fill up more if outing was planned but generally this was the expense
I am now in serious need of a diesel hatchback or small car that will provide me with a mileage of 20kmpl in city while anything above 23-24kmpl on the open roads. I was expecting early launch of Maruti Cervo Diesel but it is planned this Diwali, by the time petrol will touch Rs 100/ litre record.
I am expecting some Maruti Alto like features in Maruti Cervo with proper cornering skills, unaffected by cross winds (unlike in a Maruti Wagon R) and not much of hi-tech features. The visibility outside from driver’s side is poor, compared to other moderns cars like Chevrolet Beat, which I once drove of my friend. The rear is congested and at time a reasonable heighted person will feel the pinch of cramped legs.
