2013 Honda CRV debuts in Australia, expected in India March next year

2013 Honda CRV, one of the most awaited entry level luxury Sports Utility Vehicles in the Indian market, is expected to mark its entry in the country very soon. The new generation CRV model was recently launched in the Australian market, while it is already available in the American and European markets. In India, the SUV is expected to debut in March next year, most likely in a 2.4 liter i-VTEC petrol engine version.

In Australia, the Japanese auto giant has launched their euro-spec version, which hosts a number of styling upgrades when compared to the US bound version of the vehicle. The Australian customers have been offered an enhanced number of options including two engine options with two transmission options. Also, the new CR-V is launched in both two and four wheel drive variants.

Powered by a 2.0L, naturally aspired petrol engine, the base model of the new Honda CR-V delivers a peak power of 153 bhp along with a peak torque figure of 190 Nm. Coupled with Honda’s trademark i-VTEC technology, the front wheel driven SUV is equipped with a 6 speed manual transmission as standard and a 5 speed automatic transmission as optional.

However, if you are looking for an all wheel drive variant, the higher powered 2.4 liter i-VTEC petrol engine is offered with a 5 speed automatic transmission option. No manual transmission option is available in this engine version. Powerful 2.4L engine delivers a peak power of 187 bhp with peak torque of 222 Nm. Besides this, a 2.2L i-Dtec diesel variant is also on cards expected to be launched in the Australian market next year. However, its launch in the Indian market is a bit doubtful as the company is more interested in introducing the petrol version in the country.
