Car care and safety tip during monsoon season
Rainy days are to be enjoyed at home with relaxation but sometimes there is a need to go out for work. While starting the car in the morning after the night rains could be another nightmare. So in order to enjoy this monsoon without much headache of car troubles, the following tips could be useful:
Firstly, the car should be leak proof from every point, inspect your car for loop holes and do the replacement immediately. Try to make your car dry so as to increase the life space and minimise fungal growth. Sufficient airing is also required sometimes by opening up doors in a clear sunny day.
Secondly, to ensure the smooth mechanical functioning of the car parts a thorough servicing is a must. It would be helpful in avoiding any unwanted breakdown of car in rains. Proper oiling and ample amount of greasing should be done before the starting of monsoon to joints and suspension components as the grease could be washed away with rain water.
Thirdly, for customers who live in areas which are prone to ample rainfall for them an anti corrosive agent under the car body is very much required for protection against moisture. Also sometimes exposed wires could short circuit so the electrical components need to be fixed much before rains. To increase the visibility in rains the headlamps, wipers and indicators must be functioning properly and hence personal safety would also increase.
For the smooth and brake free working of the MPFI and CRDI Diesel cars their ECU sealing should be checked for water resistance. Brakes, one of the most important car part during monsoon needs proper care too and worn out brake pads need to be replaced immediately. A brief visual inspection of car tyres could be beneficial and replacement should be done as a tight grip is needed for safe motoring in rainy conditions.
In case of driving in wet conditions some safety tips should be followed. Leave early for any place with a sufficient margin as traffic jams and unwanted accidents increase manifold in monsoon. High speeds should be avoided every time as the braking distances increase and the reduction of cornering speeds are observed. Hence a sedate driving must be followed for our personal safety.
Avoid any chance of tailgating as we are not sure about the braking behavior of the surrounding cars. Also the concept of ABS is not found in every car and by applying hard pressure the brake locks up and the car skids with complete loss of control which could be life threatening.
One more thing to be watched out is the water logged roads as they possess some hidden obstacles which might be dangerous like open manholes. Hydro locking might take place if the car is run in more than half foot deep water and the car would stall in middle in the water logged roads again, engine might also ingest water.
If this situation occurs ever then a steady foot is to be maintained at the throttle in the lowest possible gear while the engine running at maximum rpm. Thus water logged roads must be avoided wherever possible.
In the end, pedestrians and two wheelers should also be taken under consideration while driving in monsoon. Thus by following such simple tips your ride could be insured with safety.
