Going through the implementation of BS-VI norms from 2020 most of the car makers have started upgrading their vehicles according to the new norms. The number of vehicles upgraded according to the BS-VI standards is although very low at the present, but it is believed that most of the vehicles will be upgraded accordingly by the time determined.

 

Upgrading the vehicles is not as easy as it sounds and the manufacturers have to work with a completely new strategy keeping the cost of the production and the performance of the vehicle in concern. Because, there are lots of vehicles which despite recording low sales are still the part of the Indian car market, and upgrading them according to the new norms means lots of investment and still to struggle for their existence. Going through this problem, the manufacturers are planning to phase them out of the race. A brief of such vehicles that might become a part of history after the implementation of new BS-VI norms is referred below:

 

Toyota Corolla Altis: It is unfortunate to see that luxurious sedan that rules over the hearts of car lovers across the world, failed to impress the Indian buyers despite so many endeavors. Going through this concern, the Japanese carmaker seems not to be more interested in upgrading the sedan in accordance to the new norms.

 

 

Toyota Etios Liva: The Liva sedan by the Japanese carmaker received an encouraging response mainly from the fleet operators due to luxurious and comfortable interiors, but still struggled to make its impact in the hearts of the buyers. Keeping the cost of upgrading according to the BS-VI norms will put the useless burden on the company and therefore, it is also going to be phased out by the company from the next year.

 

 

Nissan Sunny: The sedan by one more Japanese carmaker also had been struggling for its existence since its inception and despite various efforts, it could not enjoy the expected success. The low sales and poor performance, are not going to help the sedan in improving its position even after upgrading to meet the new norms, and therefore it can be also one of the victims to lose its identity from the Indian car market.

 

 

Volkswagen Ameo: The compact sedan Ameo by the German carmaker Volkswagen has also been struggling for its existence, despite being embellished with contemporary features. It is speculated that the compact sedan might also be one of the vehicles that would be phased out from India after the implementation of new BS norms.

 

 

Honda BR-V: Developed on the platform used for developing the compact sedan Amaze, the compact SUV by the Japanese carmaker is also going to move out of the Indian market from 2020.

 

 

Maruti Suzuki Ciaz/Ertiga: The diesel versions of sedan Ciaz and MPV Ertiga by the Indo-Japanese car makers will also not be seen on the Indian roads.

 

 

Skoda Rapid: The luxurious sedan by the Czech carmaker will also make its way out from the Indian car market with the new BS norms.

 

 

Renault Duster: The name of Duster does not require any introduction in the Indian car market, the compact played as a game-changer for the French carmaker. But, unfortunately, the 1.5-liter diesel engine of this vehicle may also not be seen in India anymore.
