Chevrolet Sail details revealed, launch on 25th Oct

Chevrolet Sail, one of the much anticipated cars in the Indian market, is all set to mark its debut in the country on 25th October. Unexpectedly, the company has revealed the specifications details of this model ahead of its launch. The Chevrolet Sail U-VA model will be launched in the country in both petrol and diesel variants. The petrol variant of the car will come powered by a 1.2 L MPFI engine, which will be capable of delivering a peak power of 85 BHP @ 6000 RPM in combination with a peak torque of 113 Nm @ 5000 RPM. Coupled with a five speed gear box, the Chevrolet Sail hatchback will be offering an ARAI certified mileage of 18.2 kmpl.

On the other hand, the diesel variant of the car will come loaded with a 1.3 L XSDE engine, which is outpours a maximum power figure of 77 BHP @ 4000 RPM along with 205 Nm @ 1750 RPM of peak torque. Interestingly, the ARAI certified mileage of the car will be 22.01 km per liter, making it one of the most fuel efficient cars in its segment. Both petrol and diesel versions will be offered with a five speed manual gearbox.

As far as dimensions are concerned, the Sail hatchback will be 3946mm long, 1690mm wide and 1503 mm high. In a bid to offer a better performance on Indian roads, new Sail will be carrying a high ground clearance of 174 mm along with a tyre size of 175/70 R14. While the wheelbase of the car will be 2465 mm, its kerb weight will be varying in the rage of 1065 to 1124 Kg. New Chevrolet Sail will be hosting a considerably large boot space of 248 liters which can be extended to 1215 liters with rear seats folded.

The major attractions of the new Chevrolet Sail hatchback include a duel tone interior, audio system equipped with Bluetooth and new age safety features like ABS (antilock braking system) and EBD (electronic brake-force distribution).  Premium hatchbacks Sail is expected to be launched in the price range of Rs 4 to 7 lakh, where it will be competing with the likes of Maruti Swift and Ritz, Honda Brio, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Etios, etc. However, the pricing details of the new Sail model are yet to be revealed.
