Chevrolet Sail UVA marks its entry in India at aggressive price

It is the D-Day for General Motors India! The company has finally rolled out its most anticipated hatchback, Chevrolet Sail UVA. This one is launched in four petrol and three diesel variant with a starting price tag of Rs. 4.44 lakh. After the huge success of its small cars, Chevrolet Beat and Spark, the company made the right decision and decided to tap the most thriving segment of the Indian car bazaar, the hatchback segment.

The firm has pretty high hopes from the hatchback as the consumers today wish to buy hatchback instead of small cars these days. Sail UVA has been developed and designed in alliance with SAIC. In Chinese car bazaar, Sail turned out to be the second bestselling car and the highest exported car in China. Apparently, more than five lakh units of Sail hatchback were sold all over the world since the time of its launch in 2010 in China.

In India, the firm acted smartly and rolled out Sail UVA in both diesel and petrol engine options. It is a well known fact that the Indian market is right now being dominated by diesel powered cars, reason of course being the sky rocketing petrol prices. Therefore, Chevrolet Sail UVA diesel could bring in a lot of revenue for the firm.

Coming to the technicalities, the diesel Sail UVA will come with 1.3 litre of Smartech diesel engine that promises an impressive mileage of 22.1kmpl. On the other hand, the 1.2litre petrol engine is empowering the petrol variant of the hatchback that manages to deliver a fuel efficiency of 18.2kmpl. Furthermore, the hatchback has been well-resourced with numerous features comprising of power windows, power steering, electrically handled ORVMs, air conditioning with heater, CD player, driver’s airbag and much more.
