Driving Speed Extended at Expressways and Highways
Going through the improved conditions of roads across the country, Ministry of Road and Transportation has extended the speed limit for different vehicles at express and national highway. According to the new notification issued by the ministry the car drivers can now drive at the speed of 120 kmph at the expressways and 100 kmph at the national highways. The speed limit for two wheelers and commercial vehicles has also been increased to 80 kmph on the highways. At present there are three expressways in country including Poona-Mumbai, Ahmadabad-Baroda and Delhi-Gurugram.

The speed limit for taxis has been now increased to 100 kmph from the earlier limit of 80 kmph on the expressway and 90 kmph on the highways. In the urban areas the speed of limit taxis has been extended to 70 kmph as other car, similarly the speed limit for two wheelers in urban areas has been extended from 40 kmph to 60 kmph.

Now although the Ministry of Road and Transport has extended the speed limit for different vehicles but the drivers will be allowed to still drive under specific conditions on the expressways and highways depending upon the conditions of the road.
