Glorious Heritage of Tata Cars (Part -III)
Tata Tiago, Tata Hexa and Tata Tigor, three hits in a row from domestic car Tata Motors is quite enough to reveal the commitment of offering world competent products to its aspirants. In our today’s blog we will be focusing on the predecessors of these cars who have been the backbone behind their success.
1. Tata Indigo eCS: When it comes to talk about the most fuel efficient and affordable family car in Indian market, it becomes difficult for the car enthusiasts to ignore the name of compact sedan Tata Indigo eCS. The compact sedan is offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The Tata Indigo eCS petrol (GLS) is energized with 1193 cc petrol engine that boosts the power of 65 PS at 5,000 rpm and torque of 100 Nm at 2700 rpm. The Indigo eCS diesel Tdi BS3 (LS & LX) variants are empowered with 1405 cc engine that is capable of churning the power of 70 PS @ 4,500 rpm and torque of 135 NM @2500 rpm. Similarly the LS, LX & VX trims of Indigo eCS diesel CR4 variants are enriched with 1396 cc engine that generates the power of 70 PS at 4,000 rpm followed by the torque of 140 Nm @ rpm varying between 1800 – 3000 rpm. The petrol variant is reported to deliver an average of 16.9 kmpl while the diesel delivers an average of 23.30 kmpl.
2. Tata Movus: Developed on DOHC platform the Movus SUV is empowered with 16 valve, 2.2 litre VARICOR engine that is capable for producing the power of 120 PS and torque of 250 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and 15000-3000 rpm respectively. It is offered with warranty of 3 years or 1, 50, 000 kms whichever is early. It delivers an average of 15.16 kmpl.
3. Tata Manza: The Manza sedan gets the power from both petrol and diesel engines. The trims empowered with petrol engine configuration have 4 cylinder MPFI petrol engine with intelligent port resize. The engine has displacement capacity of 1368cc and generates the power of 90 PS at 6000 rpm and torque of 116 Nm at 4750 rpm. The petrol variants deliver an average of 13.07 kmpl. The diesel variants receive power from 4 cylinder CRDi diesel engine which has displacement capacity of 1248 cc and blasts the power of 90 PS at 4000 rpm and torque of 200 Nm at rpm falling between 1750 – 3000 rpm. It delivers an average of 21.02 kmpl.
4. Tata Nano: Endorsed as the car of middle class family, Tata Nano Twist, the upgraded version of Nano get power from 624 cc, multi point fuel injected, water cooled, naturally aspirted, 2 cylinder gasoline engine followed by 2 valves per cylinder, boosting the power of 38 PS and torque of 51Nm. According to fuel efficiency results revealed by Automotive Research Association India the hatchback delivers an average of 25.35 kmpl.
5. Tata Safari: The seven seater SUV gets power from 2.2 litre diesel engine that is capable for generating the power of 140 PS at 4000 rpm and torque of 320 Nm at rpm between 1700 to 2700 rpm. It delivers an average of 11.57 kmpl.

6. Tata Safari Storme: Encourage from the over whelming response from Indian buyers for Safari SUV, domestic car maker launched its advanced version which continued with same existing engine 2.2 litre diesel engine but with improved power generation efficiency of 150 PS at 4000 rpm and torque of 156 PS at 4000 rpm. It also delivers the fuel efficiency of 14.1 kmpl.
