Hatchbacks Ready To Explore Their Charm In 2018
Despite of the fact that there has been substantial increase in the number of buyers in all segments of cars, hatchbacks are highly preferred by the huge segments especially by the first time buyers and people with small family size. Therefore, going through the craze of car lovers all major car makers are bringing not only the new economical hatchbacks in the market but also focusing on the launch of upgraded versions of their existing avatars in the Indian car market.
Anyhow, the exact number of new hatchbacks launched during the year will be known by the end of this year, but still with the arrival of Indian Auto Expo 2018 to be held during the next month it is believed that all major car makers will atleast exhibit the first glimpse of their new hatchbacks during the show. Going through the rumored news around regarding new hatchbacks let us have the look on expected cars in the segment readying to make their debut during the year.
1. Maruti Suzuki Swift: Swift hatchback from Indo-Japanese car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited is one of the highly awaited hatchback in the Indian car market. The Swift had been the best selling hatchback in the country and therefore people are keenly waiting for its new avatar. It is reported that in its new avatar the Swift is said to be miles ahead from its predecessor. Developed on the new HEATEXT design philosophy the new Swift will continue with the same engine configuration of 1.2 litre in petrol and 1.3 litre diesel engines, followed by 1.4 litre turbocharged engine in petrol variant. But as far as features are concerned it will be customized with large projector headlamps, LED DRLs and LED taillights, new sportier alloy wheels, black colored B-pillar, new bumpers at front and rear side, floating styled roof design, steering mounted controls and many more.

2. Hyundai Santro: The Santro Hatchback from Korean car maker Hyundai has been the best selling hatchback back in the decade of 90’s. Now once again the hatchback is going to make its debut in the Indian car market and is expected to make its showcase during the Indian Auto Expo 2018. The hatchback has been caught going under test drives on various occasions and its images have been leaked in the cyber world. Although nothing has been so far revealed about the mechanical and cosmetic updates offered in the hatchback but going through the images it is believed to be customized with rear windshield along with wiper, high mounted taillight, enlarged headlamps, impressing wheel covers and many more. It is also believed to offered with AMT transmission system.

3. Ford Figo Cross: Going through the success enjoyed by Figo hatchback from US based car maker Ford, the company is going to bring its crossover version in the Indian car market. The crossover has been caught under test drives without any covers. Developed on the Figo platform the crossover continues most of its cues from the hatchback, but still to make it look different from Figo it will be embellished with extra body cladding, and new features and upgraded design. After launch in the Indian car market it will compete against Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Urban Cross, Hyundai i20 Active and others in the segment.

4. Datsun redi-Go: Datsun the subsidiary of Japanese car maker Nissan Motors has launched the redi-Go hatchback back in the Indian car market back in 2016 with 800 cc engine configuration after which back in 2017 launched its upgraded version iwht 1.0 litre engine. Now the car maker is going launch its AMT version with same 1.0 litre engine boosting the power 67 bhp and torque of 91Nm.
