Honda Brio diesel under testing, will be launched by year end
Honda Brio diesel will soon be seen conquering Indian roads as the Japanese auto major Honda Motors intends to bring in diesel powered version of its trendy hatchback. The company is expected to bring in the 1.2L diesel motor by end of this year in India, while the larger diesel mills to power Honda City sedan and Honda Jazz will be launched by 2013. Honda is at present testing its recently developed diesel machinery in the form of Common Rail i-DTEC, which will rule the hot-selling compact Brio.

The company had no choice left, but to decide upon the introduction of diesel engine initially with Honda Brio in the country. As the rival firms, for instance Volkswagen and Toyota are making its way difficult with their diesel lineup sales that comprises of large portion of entire sales of the opponents. Since more of the car buyers are switching to diesel cars, as the petrol prices witness an all time high and will continue to ascend in coming times. The unavailability of diesel variant across its array has cost Honda a dip of 27 percent in total sales, in the first nine months of 2011-12 fiscal.

The new diesel engine technology i-DTEC engine better known as ‘Earth Dreams Technology’ will primarily be used in New Honda Civic sedan in Europe this year.
After the launch of Honda Brio diesel, the other diesel hatchbacks present in India, which include Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Etios Liva, New Maruti Swift hatchback, Ford Figo along with Chevrolet Beat diesel will face stiff challenge from the compact car.
