Maruti Ritz AT launches in India

Maruti Ritz AT launches in India

We sneaked into the official website of Maruti Suzuki India where we got to know that the company could soon bring in the automatic variant of Maruti Ritz hatchback. MSI is in the process of updating the website about the same, Maruti Ritz AT will be proffered on its petrol variant VXi. Maruti Ritz AT will feature a 1.2 litre K Series engine that is good for 85 PS and 114 Nm. The K Series motor will come harmonized to a four speed automatic gearbox; this is the same engine which is used in Maruti Swift Dzire notchback. A high fuel economy of 17.6 kmpl is what the company is claiming for the new AT variant, however it is a tad less that the manual gearbox, to be precise the manual gearbox returns 1.33 kmpl more than the expected fuel economy of the AT version.

Considering the fact that the vehicles with automatic gearbox return low fuel, Maruti Ritz AT expected fuel efficiency numbers are impressive. The four pot engine will also come with variable valve timing which ensures high fuel economy. Maruti Ritz AT price are still to be revealed, the company has not made an official announcement regarding the same though the MSI official website says a different story altogether. Apart from Ritz, other Maruti cars like Maruti Grand Vitara SUV, Maruti Kizashi sedan (which are sold in India as CBUs), Maruti A Star, Maruti SX4, and Maruti Swift Dzire are also available in automatic versions, making Maruti Ritz the sixth vehicle to join the bandwagon.

Along with an auto gearbox, the hatchback also gets a host of new features which the facelifted variant of the hatchback comes packed with. Apart from the new features the AT variant also bags enhanced interiors and refreshed looks. The inclusion of automatic gearbox has made the car heavier by 20 kgs; this makes it the heaviest petrol powered model in the vehicle’s range. Maruti Ritz Automatic is around 1,035 kgs heavy, safety features like EBD and ABS are offered as optional in this variant. Offering the hatchback in VXi trim makes sure that the price of the trim is placed competitively, the AT variant of the hatchback will compete with the likes of Hyundai i10 and Honda Brio.
