New Mahindra Verito now a sure rival to Swift Dzire and Etios

Mahindra has launched the new version of its sole sedan offering Mahindra Verito and with it, the car maker has strengthened its candidacy against Maruti Swift Dzire and Toyota Etios. These two Verito rivals are the segment leaders. Mahindra has experimented to make small cars with the Mahindra Logan. The car was hated heartily and there were only few takers following is overall looks and unappealing interiors. Then came the Mahindra Verito last year which was nothing but a new avatar of the same Logan with some design changes and new badge at the front that says Mahindra instead of Renault.

With the Verito, ended the joint venture between Mahindra and Renault but the latter is continuing its technology input for the earlier. Verito has never been a strong contender against Swift Dzire sedan but there was always a possibility that some day, some fortunate day, the Verito too could dampen market of Dzire. It did to some extent but not too far. Then recently came the new Verito and the timing was perfect. Where Maruti was reeling under Manesar Crisis, there emerged the new Verito as an excellent option for those who are looking for a sedan to the likes of Swift Dzire. Since, the Dzire supply was in tantrums, most of the reportedly preferred either new Verito or the Etios sedan. Some too took a turn towards Czech car Skoda Rapid. But is the Verito really a competitor of Swift Dzire or Etios or it is the circumstances that favor the Mahindra sedan.

New Verito starts at Rs 5.27 lakh, the Dzire starts at Rs 4.88 lakh while Etios starts at Rs 5.14 lakh. Clearly the Dzire wins the start price sprint but the feature wise, Verito wins. A close examination of all the prices of each variants, the new Verito is around Rs 7k to Rs 19k costly than earlier model but it is a must buy looking at the number of features it has added at this price. Overall, the new Verito remains the same boxy Verito contrary to more stylish, aerodynamic Dzire and sporty Etios. On the inside, the new Verito has lots to offer and these seem really worth a switch from the most trusted sedan Dzire to it. But people trust Mahindra as an SUV maker and Maruti for its petrol and diesel cars such as small cars and sedans. However, at this price, the Verito too should be a wise pick.

Besides this mass segment sedan rivalry, the above 12-Lakh sedan division is also prepared to get propelled with the launch of New Hyundai Elantra on 13th August 2012. Here the likes of Honda City, Toyota Corolla Altis and Skoda Laura will be seen terrified.
