Tata Avinya EV Concept: Revolutionary Step In EV Segment
The name of Tata Motors hits the mind of every person when someone talks about the top electric car manufacturer in the Indian car market. Especially, the compact SUV Nexon EV dominates the segment. Encouraged by the success of its electric cars, the domestic car maker is now going to take an extra large step. Recently the homegrown carmaker revealed two of its upcoming EV projects in front of international car lovers. These two EV concepts were named Tata Curvv and Tata Avinya.
Where the Tata Curvv represented the design of a future electric car, slated for launch in 2024. The Tata Avinya represents the electric cars of the third generation.
Word About Avinya Concept: Although the showcase of Curvv concept was more spectacular, the real taste lies in the Avinya concept. With its new body styling, the Avinya surely stole the eyes of audiences. To begin with its front fascia, it receives a rectangular design treatment followed by dual U-shaped louvres. The surprising element of the front fascia is the absence of Tata’s logo on the front grille. On the contrary, taking a step ahead Tata has integrated LED DRLs moving across the bonnet and merging in the centre to create an impression of the “T” alphabet.

Moving to the side profile, the Avinya concept receives small overhangs along with 22-inches swirl-shaped wheel. The flat black coloured roofline moves downward towards the C-pillar, where the L-shaped black coloured elements on the doors add a spicy look to the body design instead of plain design language. The introduction of butterfly-shaped doors, which are introduced for the first time in any of the Tata cars, further enhance its looks.
Speaking of the rear profile, it would not be wrong to say that similar to the front and side profile, Tata Motors has not left any stone unturned in making the rear equivalent to both of them. The boot lid with a single-piece slim tail light adds a glance to the rear portion. The rear bumper is similar to the front bumper, followed by the ‘Avinya’ logo mounted at the bottom of the boot line.
How does the Avinya Concept look from the Inside? The interior of Avinya is different from the existing design philosophy adopted by Tata Motors. Inside the cabin, you will find a light beige and tan colour treatment. The traditional screens for the multimedia or driver’s display are not present inside the cabin. On the contrary, these screens are mounted a square steering wheel with a touch-mounted control system.
Another interior attraction that will grab the attention of the buyers is the presence of four separate air conditioner vents mounted on the door pads, thus replacing the speakers. The speakers on the Avinya concept are made available below the headrests, whereas the air diffuser is placed on the front centre console. Apart from all these features, an interesting feature that was seen in the production unit of the concept version was the presence of a rotating driver seat.
The existing ORVMs are replaced by camera devices displaying the view through screens mounted close to the A-pillar. An interesting fact associated with the Avinya concept is that the company has tried to use recycled and sustainable materials for developing its interiors.
The Engine: As the Avinya concept is developed keeping the driving needs of the drivers representing the third generation it will be based on the Gen 3 EV platform. Industry experts believe that all the upcoming vehicles from Tata Motors will be based on this platform. The notable feature of this platform is that it can store a large battery which can deliver an average of 500 km on a single charge. This battery pack will also be bestowed with an ultra-fast charging ability.
Safety Features: The production unit of the Avinya concept came equipped with the safety features like an advanced driver assistance system, improved structural safety, and connected car technology.
