Tata Motors Snatches Second Position From Hyundai Motors In India

According to the recent list of major car manufacturing companies in India published by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), domestic car-making company Tata Motors has surpassed Hyundai to take the second spot. Let's take a look at the sales figures of the 7 biggest automakers in the country for the same month.
 
Maruti Suzuki: Maruti Suzuki India Ltd continues to lead the Indian automotive industry with a sale of 1,37,201 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023. This reflects year-on-year growth of 15.83 per cent, with an increase in overall sales by 18,755 units. In March 2022, the company sold 1,18,446 units of passenger vehicles.
 
Tata Motors: Tata Motors has made significant strides in enhancing its lineup, and it has now climbed up to the second spot in the sales chart for March 2023. The company sold 46,847 units in the month, which is a rise of 9,908 units, showcasing a growth of 26.82 per cent compared to the same period last year when it sold 36,939 units.
 
 
Hyundai: Following Tata Motors is Hyundai Motor India Ltd., which has slipped down to the third spot after selling 45,703 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023. This translates to year-on-year growth of 4.42 per cent, with an increase of 1,937 units from March 2022.
 
Mahindra: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd secures the fourth spot with 32,196 units of passenger vehicles sold in March 2023, marking a 34.07 per cent year-on-year increase. This represents a total increase in sales by 8,182 units, as compared to the same period last year, when the company sold 24,014 units of passenger vehicles.
 
Kia: Kia Motors India Pvt Ltd occupies the fifth spot, selling 21,023 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023. This is a year-on-year increase of 20.64 per cent, with 3,597 units more than the same period last year when the company sold 17,426 units.
 
Toyota: Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd sold 15,623 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023, placing it in the sixth spot. This translates to year-on-year growth of 39.55 per cent, representing an increase of 4,428 units, as compared to March 2022 when the company sold 11,195 units.
 
Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group: Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group secured the seventh spot by selling 7,977 units of passenger vehicles in March 2023. This represents a year-on-year increase of 8.21 per cent, with an increase of 607 units, compared to March 2022 when the company sold 7,390 units.
