Upcoming BMW Cars To Feature I-Phone Accessibility
There is no doubt that the mobile phone has become the lifeline of our generation, after retaining the control of your home, your smartphone is going to take control of your car in its hands. According to recent reports, the upcoming BMW 5 Series from the German carmaker BMW feature the facility of Digital Key to the iPhone users for unlocking their car by simply keeping their phone in the smartphone tray and touching the start button.

The announcement regarding this was made by Apple during its Worldwide Developers Conference, where the smartphone manufacturer announced that the new feature will be named as CarKey and introduced as a new feature in iOS 14. It would be interesting to know that both the tech giant Apple and auto giant BMW are working together on Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC). The digital key specification 2.0 for NFC was released recently in May 2020, whereas the generation next of the digital key using the Ultra Wideband is going under test. Ultra-Wideband Technology will facilitate the iPhone users kept in their pockets or bag and unlock their cars. The feature is going to introduced in the cars coming into the market from next year.
To use the Digital Key feature, the iPhone users will be required to download the Digital Key setup from BMW Smartphone App. The access of the key can be shared within five people including a configurable car access facility that restricts the driver from speeding the car, increasing the audio volume, and many more. All these functionalities can be controlled both inside the car and also through Apple Wallet.
