1.2 litre diesel engine to empower Maruti Suzuki Ignis
It is reported that Ignis, the upcoming compact crossover from country’s leading car manufacturer MSIL will be empowered with new 1.2 litre diesel engine which is endorsed to be enhanced version of 800cc diesel engine. The engine is expected to produce the power of 70 bhp. Earlier reports from different sources have said that the diesel version of Ignis will be empowered with 1.3 litre MultiJet diesel engine. The compact crossover will however also be offered in petrol version which will sport 1.2 litre VTVT engine.

It is speculated to be priced in the range of Rs. 4.8 lakh to Rs. 6.8 lakh and bestow some remarkable feature to note mainly outside rear view mirrors with turn indicators, projector headlamps, rear mounted spoiler and LED headlights, 18 inch alloy wheels and touchscreen infotainment system. On the safety front it is reported to be equipped with ABS, EBD and airbags. It is expected that sale of Ignis will commence during the festive season and will be third product to be sold by company through Nexa showrooms. With this it is also anticipated that company might introduce the RS variant of its hatchback Baleno enriched with Boosterjet engine during the festive season. Once launched in Indian car market it will compete against Ford EcoSport and Mahindra KUV100.
