69,000 Petrol Pumps In The Country To Get Electric Charging Points
In an attempt to encourage the use of electric vehicles in the entire country and strengthen the infrastructural facilities, the government of India has selected 69,000 petrol pumps across the country for developing the electric vehicle charging point on each of them. Addressing the 9th Auto Serve 2020 Electric Mobility Conference, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways & MSME, Honourable Nitin Gadkari informed the participants about this step taken by the government. Moving ahead he also added that the government is working on developing an environment to inspire the people for driving electric vehicles. However, he did not told about the time limit by which this task will be accomplished.

In the words of Hon. Gadkari, said, “Government is also working towards making India a global automobile manufacturing hub in the next five years. This is my dream." He said the government is working on providing a competitive environment to the auto manufacturers that will help in making India, the hub of automobile manufacturing in the next five years. According to him, there will be need of 25 million skilled people in the automobile sector in the next few years.
In his address Hon. Gadkari also told about the various initiatives taken by the government for encouraging the use of electric vehicles within the country, this includes reduction of 5% in GST, delinking the cost of battery installed in the two and three-wheelers from the vehicle itself. He also urged the industry experts to join hands and help the government in meeting its objective of controlling the pollution in the entire country. With this, he also asked the automobile manufacturers to move towards the use of flex engines that are capable of running on both petrol or ethanol/CNG.
