Are Companies Ready With EV Charging Stations?
With the increasing use of electric cars in the country, more and more car manufacturing companies in the country are working on it. The problem with the adoption of electric cars in the country is the absence of sufficient charging infrastructure facilities. However, with an increasing number of electric cars in India, the manufacturers are working on it, especially after the entrance of US-based car manufacturing company Tesla in the Indian car market. According to reports the domestic car manufacturing company Tata Motors seems in the mood to dominate the electric cars segment in the country.

It is reported that the company’s subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover said in a statement that “ it has set up charging infrastructure across 22 retail outlets in the country as it prepares to launch its all-electric SUV, Jaguar I-PACE, later this month.” The company sources also said that these charging stations have been set up in the metro cities and the cities with well-developed infrastructure facilities within the country. In the words of Mr Rohit Suri, Jaguar Land Rover India President and Managing Director, "Electric vehicles will not just be a new mobility solution, but owning one will also be a new ownership experience. We recognise this and have worked relentlessly with our retailers to ensure that owning an EV is truly a hassle-free experience for our customers."
Apart from Tata Motors, there are a few more companies that are working on the development of electric vehicle charging stations within the country. Among them the key players are:
Ather-Grid: At present, the company is mainly involved in the business of manufacturing electric two-wheelers in the country. Besides this, Ather Energy has also Ather Grid - a dedicated fast public charging network, which is developed and designed within the country. Ather Grid is known as one of the fast charging networks for electric vehicles in the country. It has more than 130 charging stations in the country.
CHARZER: The Bengaluru based group is known for providing portable Kirana chargers of 3.3 kV. These chargers are mainly used in malls, small shops, restaurants, etc. Recently the founder of the group revealed his plan for setting up electric charging stations in the country during an event - MOVE.
