Audi cars to be dearer by 2%, other carmakers to follow suit
Audi India is reportedly in the process of price hike of Audi A4, Audi A6 and six other products offered in India. The decision is said to have been taken in the light of the current devaluation of the rupee and the higher costs of production. It is believed that feeling the heat of the present scenario in which the rupee has devalued compared to dollar and the consequent rise in the expenditures in production, Audi India will be giving a hike of almost two percent to its product prices. The hike will be applicable to all models from early next year.
The impact of the price rise will be seen on the products produced domestically as well the completely built units. Audi India Head Michael Perschke has reportedly told media that there is an unexpected change in rupee to dollar rate and it would be difficult for Audi to sell its products at the current prices. He also expressed that anybody in the industry has to bow down to the current grim situation.

Stepping in the same shoes, other carmakers have also decided to offer their vehicles at a higher price from January 1. As per sources, carmakers such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Renault, Nissan Motor, Hyundai Motor, Ford, General Motors and Toyota India cars will be costlier by three percent.
Sources also revealed that Renault Koleos SUV will witness a sharp increase in its price by Rs 1 lakh from the onset of 2012. Nissan Sunny and hatch Nissan Micra price will also be up by 2% in the dawn of the coming year.

Similarly Hyundai cars will be costly by 2 percent, and Chevrolet Beat Diesel will be dearer by Rs 15,000 and Toyota cars such as Toyota Etios and Toyota Etios Liva will witness a price increase by 1-2%.
The decision is said to have a positive impact on the sales and posed an excellent opportunity for those customers who intend to buy any Audi car to prepone their decision a little bit earlier. However, industry experts visualize this price hike as Audi’s efforts to transfer the burden on the buyers rather than figuring out ways to stable the prices.
