Audi E-Tron Batteries To Power Indian E-Rickshaws
According to reports, an Indo-German startup group Nunam is deploying the used batteries of the Audi E-Tron in the electronic rickshaws slated for the launch in India next year by the German luxurious car maker Audi. The batteries of electric vehicles work efficiently till a particular and start weakening gradually as the time passes. Though some of their components are reused, some are dangerous to the environment. Nunam is working on finding ways to use the discharged batteries of E-Tron in its electronic rickshaws and use them as a storage system.

The startup has its offices in Berlin and Bengaluru and receives funds from the Audi Environmental Foundation. It is the first project on which the Audi Environmental Foundation and Nunam are working together. The group will use the used batteries of Audi E-Tron in electronic rickshaws the German auto group is going to launch in India next year. At present three prototypes are developed by Nunam in collaboration with the training team working at the production unit of Audi in Neckarsulm.
In the words of Pradip Chatterjee, Co-Founder, Nunam, "The old batteries are still extremely powerful. When used appropriately, second-life batteries can have a huge impact, helping people in challenging life situations earn an income and gain economic independence - everything in a sustainable way”.
The group will provide these electronic rickshaws to a non-profit organization working to empower working as a part of self-help groups. The use of this e-rickshaw will help them in transporting their goods to market without any need for mediators. Along with these rickshaws will also use for transportation in India and by the trainees working at the company’s Neckarsulm site.
