Audi Q3 assembly may start soon, price slash could be underway

The German car maker Audi will be starting production of it best selling SUV Audi Q3 in India soon. Buoyed by the success of this car in the country in the luxury segment, the car maker has decided to go for the completely knocked down unit route for this car. It is important to note that the Audi A4, Audi A6 and Q3 are the three best selling models by the German car maker and it is these models that have positioned the car maker at the second pedestal in the luxury car segment. Currently, the car maker assembles Audi Q5 and Audi Q7 SUVs in India besides the Audi A4 and Audi A6 sedans. The Q3 will be assembled at the Aurangabad plant. Experts believe that the Audi Q3 price is soon to have a slash as soon as the in house production starts.

In order to meet the rising demand for this SUV, the car maker will be producing it at its plant and for this it will also be boosting the capacity of its production plant. As per reports, the car manufacturer will have an installed capacity of 12k cars after the expansion is over in the next two years. The present capacity of the plant is that of producing 9k cars. But the expansion plans will entirely depend on the market conditions and the company has reportedly said that it will go for the CKD route for Q3 only if the market remains stable.

Experts believe that the fresh proposals to tax diesel SUVs could spoil the market sentiment but it will have no impact on Audi cars as these are luxury segment cars and buyers do not see price and go for luxury and safety of these cars. It is believed that the present surge in demand has encouraged the car maker to think of the local assembly of the Q3 SUV. Also with Volvo V40 Cross Country coming, it is believed that the competition between Q3 and BMW X1 will reach its maximum.
