Audi To Launch Two Door Coupe Against BMW 8-Series
German luxurious car maker Audi is speculating to launch a luxurious two door coupe to compete against BMW 8-Series. This was revealed by the company’s designing head Marc Lichte recently in an interview. According to him company is working to launch the coupe in the international market but going through the week demand it might take some time to step in the segment. Replying to the company’s absence in the segment he said, “I love the shape of a two-door coupé, but it is also true that the [sales] volumes [for them] are much lower than for four-doors. In the future, who knows? We have many ideas in this direction.”
It would be interested to know that in recent years with launch of 8-Series coupe by the German car maker BMW the luxurious car makers are shifting towards the segment. The 8-Series has been launched to complete against Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and Polestar -1. However in recent years the car maker from Germany, BMW had moved from two doors and focused on other cars, but the showcase of two door coupe during the Los Angeles Motors Show 2014, revealed the company’s intention of introducing the coupe.
The Prologue Concept designed by Lichte is the first designed developed by the car maker which at the same time also revealed the future of design philosophy to be followed by the car maker. The Prologue concept car was regarded as the upgraded version of Audi A8 sedan.
