Automakers Deploying Women's Power In Production Activities

The days have gone back when only the men power was deployed in production activities by automakers. But now the time has changed and now when women are walking shoulder to shoulder with men in every sector, the auto sector is no more exception to this.  According to recent reports, renowned automakers like Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, MG Motors, and Bajaj Auto understand the relevance of women’s power and knowledge. These makers are engaging women's power in multiple production activities and breaking the men’s dominance.

The homegrown automaker Tata Motors has appointed more than 3,000 women working in different positions in its six production units located in different locations across the country. The company intends to extend this number and involve women in multiple activities. In the words of Ravindra Kumar, President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Tata Motors, although all automakers favour the thought of appointing women to different high positions, the data exhibits a huge gap between reality and thoughts. In his words, Tata Motors is serious about this matter according to him, “We have also undertaken the challenging task of building a shop in Pune that entirely comprises a women workforce, and as of now, 1,100 women are employed in this shop. We plan to increase this further to 1,500 in the next two months”.

The same types of efforts are being made by MG Motors India. It is reported that the company has decided to offer 50% of its different positions within the organization to women. At present, 34% of positions are held by women within the organization. The Japanese automaker, Hero MotorCorp has more than 1,500 women employees working in multiple positions. Moving ahead, the domestic two-wheeler maker Baja Auto has employed women in all major activities performed in the production of power bikes like Pulsar RS200 and Dominar 400.
