Ban LIfted From BS3 Petrol And BS4 Diesel Cars In Delhi
With the improving quality of air pollution in Delhi and NCR, the government of Delhi has lifted the ban on BSIII petrol and BSIV diesel cars with effect from November 14, 2022. According to one of the government officials, the government is keeping a strict watch on the improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI), and changing the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) implemented last week. A few days back, the government of Delhi introduced the GRAP and allowed the movement of only BS6 diesel vehicles in the capital and NCR, to control the increasing level of pollution. The GRAP was also imposed on private BS4 and BS4 diesel cars.

After the introduction of GRAP, the Delhi Traffic Police issued challans to more than 1,200 diesel LMVs and stopped such vehicles from other states to enter Delhi. Recently the Minister of Environment, of the Delhi government Chaired a high-level meeting with officials to discuss the new directions issued by the air quality panel of the Central government to control the worsening quality of air in the national capital.
Last week the air quality panel appointed by the Central government asked the authorities to remove the ban from BS-VI light motor diesel vehicles in the Delhi-NCR region and allow the entry of trucks, restricted to enter in Delhi after the introduction of GRAP.
