BMW 1 Series launch in India set for September 2013
BMW India, which has recently launched the next generation version of their flagship luxury saloon, BMW 7 Series in the country, is now going to play game in entry level luxury car market. The German carmaker has plans to launch the much awaited entry level luxury hatchback, BMW 1 Series in India in September 2013 which will try to eat the market share of this month launching Mercedes Benz A Class luxury sports hatchback and near future coming Audi A1.

In first quarter of this year, BMW India has been driven past by its competitors like Audi and Mercedes in domestic market, in terms of sales futures. Thus, to manage the numero uno position in domestic market again, the company has very strategic plans to bring out more products. In India, new BMW 1 Series will be available as CKD unit as it will be assembled at Chennai based plant of the company. The new beast by German auto giant would be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options.
The gasoline driven version of the BMW 1 Series hatchback will have a 1.6 liter direct injection 136bhp motor under the hood while the diesel fuel run model will be loaded with a 2.0 liter diesel engine. And, both these models are reported to be mated to a 7 speed automatic transmission system that would be capable to lure both fuel efficiency and performance lovers. BMW has already introduced the flagship Mini brand India which also is doing well butm 1 Series hatchback could become a sales driver for the company such as BMW X1 crossover.
