BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe in the works
Despite slowdown D segment was left unhurt and unaffected, but it seems that stagnancy has poisoned this segment too. The market leader in the luxury car segment of the domestic market, BMW India is in soup these days with lethargic sales bringing the morale down of the company. The other German duo, Audi and Mercedes on the other hand are looking at new ways to pull BMW down in the race. In order to keep its crown, the company should look at new ways to keep its image intact in the eyes of the customers.
In wake of keeping its image alive and its sales intact, BMW is now pondering to launch a new range of product- the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.
The new BMW 4 Series will be inspired largely from BMW 6 Series. Or it could also be referred to as the mini version of BMW 6 Series. The test variant has been caught on camera umpteen times on the roads of Europe with the whole body covered with camouflage. The newly launched BMW 3 Series F30 will have the sedan, LWB sedan and station wagon versions under it, however, the coupe and convertible will come under 4 Series moniker.
To give a clear picture as to what this new BMW 4 Series will offer let us throw some more light on the new vehicle. The new 4 Series will be spawned in 2 door coupe and convertible, 4-door coupe and convertible body styles. These will be placed between BMW 3 Series and BMW 5 Series sedans. The new BMW 4 Series will aim at the youth who aspire to buy cars with new design and will be affordable at the same time. The company is aiming at making it a cheaper alternative to the BMW 6 Series Coupe. Being developed under the codename of F35 (2 door) and F36 (4-door), this new range of 4 Series will bring together the design and dynamics of BMW 6 Series. The car would be able to seat five adults comfortably inside the cabin. It will flaunt the looks of a coupe.
The BMW 4 Series variants will come packed with a four cylinder and six-cylinder turbocharged engines. Equipped with the adaptive suspension, the driver would be able to adjust ride settings. The new BMW 4 Series will have to fight out with Audi A5 Sportsback and the yet to be launched baby SLS model. Expect the new 4 Series to bow in by 2014.
