BMW i8: Curtain to rise on February 18, 2015
Showcased for the first time during Indian Auto Expo 2014, BMW i8 the hybrid saloon sedan from German luxurious car maker is going to make its debut in Indian car market on February 18, 2015. It is reported that the car maker has started the shipment of car to its Indian dealers and would be brought through completely built up Unit (CBU) and is expected to be priced around Rs. 2 crore.
The sedan would be empowered with 1. Litre twin turbocharging 3 cylinder petrol engine, combined with an electric motor. The engine boosts the power of 231 bhp and torque of 320 Nm, engine is mated with six speed automatic transmission system. The electric motor on the other side generates the power of 131 PS and torque of 250Nm, thus both petrol engine and electronic motor generate the power of 362 PS and torque of 570 Nm. Weighing about 1490 kgs, the sedan crosses the mark 100 kmph within the span of 4.5 seconds and top speed of 250 Kmph. It will be offered with right hand drive option.
