BMW relies on FWD cars, 20 new cars in the offing

Luxury car maker BMW will be launching over 20 front wheel driven cars in the next few years. Reports suggest that it will also be launching the new BMW Mini cars as well. All these cars will be based on the Concept Active Tour platform and the car maker is highly banking on this platform and has set it as the base for its future cars. The platform will debut itself with the BMW 1 Series GT. Thus said, the car maker seems to be in a mood to strengthen its position and to counter similar attempts by its two arch rivals Audi and Mercedes Benz. Where Mercedes is struggling hard to keep pace with the development, it is Audi that is giving the toughest competition to BMW.

In India, Audi is soon to begin the production of the Audi Q3 and will be launching the Audi A3 sedan as well. Meanwhile, Mercedes is already in a mood to expand its portfolio. Now it is BMW’s turn to show up some exciting models to woo and sustain its own position in the country. Now that there will be over 20 new BMW cars coming soon, expect some hectic launch schedules ahead and it could be possible that it will remain at the top position without being affected by any of the claims by the other car makers.

Several reports suggest that some of the launch of these 20 cars by BMW will be in the under Rs 20 lakh category as well so as to get some fabulous numbers. Mostly it will be the premium small car segment that BMW will be focusing as this is the most lucrative segment. The first in the series will be the Audi A3 hatchback rival car that will go on sale in early 2014. It could be possible that BMW will unveil the new car at the India Auto Expo as well.
