BMW X4, know more what it has to offer
Possibilities are rising regarding the launch of BMW’s new product that could send shivers to its German counterparts, Audi and Mercedes. We are here talking about BMW X4, a new addition in its X Series, this model could break covers in the coming years and make a smashing entry in the global markets. The concept has been based on the BMW’s very own BMW X6, this model has tasted success and could lead to the development of another successful product in the form of BMW X4.
Rumour mills opine that BMW is contemplating to roll out a petite version of BMW X6 in the form of BMW X4. This would be by far the smallest coupe-crossover to be rolled out from BMW. This model is being considered as a mass segment product and expectations are high in terms of sales from the new X4. One of the senior BMW officials confirmed the news and stated that the production of the new BMW X4 will take place at the company’s Spartanburg plant located in the US. The project has been codenamed cF26, though it is going to be a smaller version of X6 but will share platform with BMW X3. BMW X4 will have the same length as X3 that is 4.56 meters and will be available in four wheel drive option.
As far as design is concerned, it will take design cues from BMW X6, however it will differentiate from the front side with a new reworked look rendered to the new X4. The highlight of the new SAC will be the new plunging roofline, this would blend well with a sportier rear-end. BMW will power X4 with the same range of engines performing duty in the X3 line up. Later on a hybrid version of X4 could also be rendered based on the X6 ActiveHybrid. Across all trim levels, an 8 speed ZF transmission will be seen.
A X4M churning out staggering 450 Hp is also in the works. X4M will be harmonized to a M-DCT gearbox that will supply power to all four wheels. Expect a sport tunes suspension along with an electro-mechanical control system. To make X4 light in weight, the German luxury car maker could use carbon fiber in abundance. BMW eyes to launch the new BMW X4 in the year 2014, the crossover will compete with the likes of Range Rover Evoque which is doing pretty well in the global markets, including the Indian car market and will alo rival with Porsche Macan.
