Cars and iPhone to have a better bond with Apple’s Siri

If you wish to own a Mercedes Benz C Class or any other Mercedes car in the near future, expect that you will have a navigation system based on your iPhone. Apple has developed voice-controlled service Siri on Apple’s iPhone 4s. The new service could be beneficial for car drivers and it is expected that carmakers would adopt the new service, which is a valuable navigation device. Siri would provide real-time traffic updates and it will have “Eye Free” features. Siri would enable the driver to talk while driving by just pushing a button on steering wheel. The media reports suggest that the new technology developed by Apple would become popular in auto industry. Mercedes has already planned to use Siri in it’s a-Class car, which will soon be launched in Europe.

Also, Apple has presented Apple's Siri in the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) held on June 11. The car manufacturing giants including BMW, Audi, Chrysler, Honda, General Motors, Jaguar, Land Rover and Toyota showed their interest in making use of Siri into their vehicles. Earlier, drivers have the option to use smartphones for directions, in-car navigation system, and Google maps service in smartphones for assisting them in driving. But, now Siri is more drivers friendly as it would be connect the car to its iPhone. There would be a button at steering wheel for the purpose. By just tapping the button, a driver would be able to make use of services like calling, play music, ask for directions, calendar information and also one can hear the messages by accessing their iPhone while on the move.

The sources said that General Motors may use the Apple’s Siri service in its entry level cars such as Chevrolet Beat and Chevrolet Spark. It is expected that by the end of the financial year, car lovers would be able to make use of Apple’s Siri as most of the car makers are planning to integrate it in their high end cars. The new service of Apple would help it in retaining the position of market leader.
